Geological mapping of impact melt deposits at lunar complex craters Jackson and Tycho: Morphologic and topographic diversity and relation to the cratering process
High resolution geologic mapping of impact melt on the crater floors was carried out. Coherent floor sections with elevation differences of > 200 m have multiple causes. Large blocks comparable to the central peaks could potentially be subdued peak sections. Smooth floor melt correlates with downrange direction of impact and lowest elevations. Impact melt mapping on the central peaks has implications for mineralogical studies.
