Able-bodied and amputee CoM displacement was correlated to metabolic cost. Vertical CoM displacement was not correlated to cost in controls or amputees. Base of support and ML CoM displacement were equally good indicators of metabolic cost. Rehabilitation protocols should aim to indirectly aim to reduce these indicators.
