Shear induced weakening of the hydrogen bonding lattice of the energetic material 5,5′-Hydrazinebistetrazole at high-pressure

HBTA was studied by in-situ XRD and vibrational spectroscopy to near 25 GPa. The monoclinic structure persisted over the pressure range studied. Geometry modifications occur in the hydrogen bonding lattice with compression. Blue shifts of the NH stretching modes were noted, implying a weakening H-bond.
