Periplocin-induced cardiotoxicity on neonatal rat cardiomyocytes was analyzed by UPLC-Q-TOF/MS-based metabolomics.

Significant decline was observed in these biomarkers of Periplocin-induced cardiotoxicity.

A “supervised” Support Vector Machine (SVM) study was used to optimize and verify the collected biomarkers.

Relevant metabolic pathways of these biomarkers were analyzed by MetPA.

An UPLC-Q-TOF/MS-based metabolomic approach is a powerful tool for assessing the toxicity of traditional Chinese medicine and drug safety screening.
