Chinese EHRs have been adopted in a relatively short period of time, but have been installed widely stimulated by strong government intervention.

However, there has been no previous study regarding Chinese EHRs to show whether these systems work well in clinical practices.

This is especially the case when those systems have internal usability problems, which may affect the outcome of HIT applications.

This is the first time that Rapid Usability Assessment (RUA) was used in China to assess and inspect EHRs.

This study is to identify usability problems and explore research and application directions for the adoption of EHRs both in China and globally.
