Ammonium toxic to alga was detoxified by using acetate as carbon source. Ammonium toxicity enhances algal lipid content in mixotrophic condition. Neutral lipid content of Nannochloropsis oculata reach to 50% of dry cell weight. Algal growth and lipid production were simultaneously enhanced.
