Energy-efficient rail guided vehicle routing for two-sided loading/unloading automated freight handling system

We study energy-efficient routing of a rail-guided vehicle with two-sided loading. A novel MILP model is established that guarantees conflict-free transport service. Structural properties are exploited to enhance the MILP solution process. The model is embedded into a rolling-horizon approach to treat the dynamic problem. The new strategy saves energy consumption by up to 15% in a dynamic environment.
