The single phase β-Y2Si2O7 nanowires have been prepared via a molten salt method. Effect of the temperature on the synthesis of β-Y2Si2O7 nanowires was investigated. β-Y2Si2O7 has a low thermal conductivity (1.84 W m−1 K−1) and a low thermal expansion coefficient (3.88 × 10−6 K−1).
