N-doped hierarchically porous carbons were obtained from renewable shrimp shell.

N-HPC-850-2 had ultrahigh surface area of 3171 m2/g and pore volume of 1.934 ml/g.

N-HPC-850-2 showed very high adsorption capacities of SMZ and CAP antibiotics.

N-HPC-850-2 exhibited fast kinetics and good reuse ability for water treatment.
