The site-based diurnal variation of PM2.5 on large scale was revealed in China. The correlation between PM2.5 and AOD varies greatly with the locations and seasons. Various averaging schemes of PM2.5 result in differing R biases. High cloud fraction and RH tend to weaken the correlation between PM2.5 and AOD.
