PEG monophosphate (PEGP) and isosorbide diglycidyl ether (IDE) were synthesized.
New hydrogels with phosphate linkages were prepared by reacting IDE with PEGP.
The crosslinking reaction occurred at room temperature without catalyst and solvent.
The hydrogels exhibited characteristic swelling and degradation.
Drug release of the hydrogel was influenced by the chain length of PEG moiety.
