High-dose GCSF reduces monocyte infiltration into the ischemic brain. GCSF decreases integrin expression on circulating Ly6C+ monocytes after stroke. GCSF downregulates integrin expression on monocytes in an IL-10 dependent way. Brain-infiltrating monocytes correlate with brain edema and stroke outcome.
