Ten combinations of tillage systems and N fertilization strategies on barley performance were studied in four cropping seasons. No-tillage showed 1.0, 1.7 and 6.3 times greater grain yield than CT in three of the four cropping seasons. Pre-sowing and top-dressing N fertilization did not increase barley yield compared to the application of half rate at top-dressing. Pig slurry increased significantly the water and nitrogen use efficiency for yield compared to mineral N.
