Summary

Spontaneous gas gangrene is a rare and fatal condition which is difficult to diagnose. It is caused by Clostridium and the majority of cases are associated with malignancy. The portal of entry is thought to be the ileocaecal region. Very few cases have been reported in literature. We describe a new case of spontaneous gas gangrene diagnosed on autopsy.
