LPS induces sex-dependent behavioural effects in C57BL/6J mice. Anhedonia and locomotor activity were equally impaired in the two sexes. LPS-treated females were more vulnerable in the splash test and males to anorexia. LPS induced sustained serotonergic hyperactivity in the female mouse brain.
