Guiding during an NRMP is mutually beneficial to the child, the parent and the nurse, and the meaning of how support should be designed is developed through the child's reactions. In order for support to be supportive during an NRMP, play is essential. Play helps children make the support understandable, since play constitutes the connection between the child's imagination and reality. When adequate support is established at an NRMP, the child will actively participate in the struggle for a supportive, caring situation.
