A new family of phosphorous-free Pt-based bulk metallic glasses was developed. The hardness is roughly 50% higher than for currently known Pt-based BMGs. The new alloy complies with the Pt850 hallmarking standard. Copper is a powerful alloying element to improve glass forming ability.
