The calculated structural parameters for KB6 are consistent with previously reported experimental results. The calculated absorption spectrum also shows that KB6 is a promising near-infrared absorbing material. Calculations explain the origin of high visible light transparency and solar radiation shielding performance in KB6. The transparent and solar radiation shielding performance for windows of different KB6 films is predicted.
