First report of copper-catalyzed coupling of thioamides and diazo compounds for the synthesis of enaminones. Thioformamide and primary, secondary and tertiary thiomamides can undergo this reaction. Acceptor/acceptor and acceptor-only substituted diazo compounds are coupling viable partners. Catalytic extrusion of sulfur is reported.
