We develop firstly DBSA-catalyzed alkylation of olefins with alcohols in water.
DBSA-catalyzed alkylation of ketene dithioacetals and alcohols in water is efficient.
The reaction affords a wide range of alkylated ketene dithioacetals in high yields.
The reaction is characterized by easy separation and environmentally benign.
