Hexahedral nanoparticles of Tyrosine doped LaF3:Ce water soluble nanoparticles have been synthesized by wet chemical method with subsequent irradiation by microwaves to reduce agglomeration. The average particle size obtained by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) measurements are 19 nm, 25 nm and 28 nm respectively. The TEM images showed nanoparticles having largely hexahedral morphology. The Selected Area Electron Diffraction Pattern (SAED) showed sharp rings for synthesized nanoparticles. The SEM images showed agglomeration of the particles. The FT-IR spectra of the synthesized nanoparticles show presence of carboxylic and amino functional groups along with other functional group from tyrosine used as surfactants.
