Tuberculosis knowledge and attitude in aspiring doctors and nurses - Is it time for our TB teaching methods to evolve?

India is one of the hot-spots for tuberculosis and contributes nearly 24% of the new cases reported globally each year. This study highlights the deficiencies in knowledge pertaining to tuberculosis among the ‘budding’ doctors and nurses of tomorrow. A paradigm change in medical curricula and incorporation of newer innovative teaching and learning methods may be needed to create a pool of doctors and nurses who could help India meet the Sustainable Developmental Goal (SDG) laid out by the WHO as its post-2015 TB control strategy.
