Excess consumption of calories late at night is associated with skipping breakfast and obesity in adults. Relevant data in children are very limited. High-energy intake at dinner and evening snack was associated with lower caloric intake and with skipping breakfast. Children at the lowest quartile of physical activity levels had a positive association between the calories consumed at dinner and body mass index; this association was inverse for children at the highest quartile of physical activity levels.
