Annual deforestation by farmers is influenced by low farm productivity and uncertain land tenure at 1% level significance.

The factor of low farm productivity has two different aspects: the size (area) of the farms and age of the farms.

Our analysis revealed that, a 10% increase in the farm size would result in an increase in the annual deforestation by 4%.

Farms that were 10% older were associated with 2% less annual deforestation than newer farms.
