La0.78Ca0.22−xPbxMnO3 compound is synthesized and found to crystallize in orthorhombic structure, with the Pnma space group. Results show that the paramagnetic–ferromagnetic transition is of second order. The magnetocaloric effect is studied and RCP values are determined. Arrott's plots and Landau's theory confirm the second order phase transition. The magnetic entropy change can be well described by the universal behavior.
