Bone-like apatite formation on the Mn-HA coated Ti-6Al-4V by plasma electrolytic oxidation was investigated. The number of large pores with an irregular shape, increased as the Mn content in the coating increased. The Ca/P ratio in the coating decreased, whereas the (Ca+Mn)/P ratio increased, as the Mn content increased. As the Mn concentration increased, all surfaces become denser, and microcracks were evident on the coated surface.
