A theory of engraved images based on principles of light rays behaviour is reported. Plane curves of very general geometric shapes are used to encode 3D images. Designs of codes using particular curvilinear shapes are experimentally studied. Computer-generated holographic engravings are obtained by laser using curved-codes. Effects on stability, multiplicity, orientation and spatial position of images are found.
