Detailed long term (up to 2050) advanced biobased material scenarios are presented for the EU28. Biodegradable-, more durable biopolymers and lignin as an alternative for bitumen exhibit highest growth potentials. Material use up to 11% shares in a joint biobased subsector comprising bioenergy and advanced biobased materials outlined. Clearer definitions and better documentation of bioeconomy products and feedstocks are needed. Introduction and diffusion of biomass pre-treatment and conversion technologies to trigger climate change mitigation effects.
