文摘
Fish presence alters newt movement in networks of aquatic patches. Behavioural avoidance and bet-hedging strategy explain habitat selection. Newts avoid fish patches and aggregate in fishless habitats. Fish presence affects reproduction through an indirect density effect. The rescue effect of fishless habitat allows newts to persist in invaded networks.
