Guidance to deal with less than lifetime exposure in risk assessment is presented. Critical elements such as toxicokinetics in risk assessment of less than lifetime exposure are explained. The approach is exemplified by considering case studies of less than lifetime exposure. The approach illustrates that substance specific information is required for refinement of the risk assessment.
