A decrease in alkalinity of brackish water over time occurred after CaCO3 application beyond an initial TA of 81.5 mg L− 1; Beyond a Langelier Index of 0.62, there tended to be a slight decrease in TA of brackish water after the CaCO3 application; For a standard application rate of 12 mg Ca(OH)2 L− 1, seawater pH is not carried up above the equilibrium pH level of 8.3.
