L. starkeyi is tolerant to the inhibitors from sugarcane hydrolysate. L. starkeyi is able to consume acetic acid as precursor for biosynthesis of lipids. Presence of key genes related to inhibitors metabolism on the L. starkeyi genome. Fatty acid profile of lipids from hydrolysate is similar to palm oil.
