Control, analysis and optimization of hybrid PV-Diesel-Battery systems for isolated rural city in Algeria

PSO based Matlab code has been developed to determine the optimal configuration of PV-Diesel-Battery system for south Algeria tamanrasset (ilamane).

Three objective functions are considered. These three objective functions are minimizing the total cost of the system, the total CO2 emission produced by diesel generators, and LLP.

Input required for system optimization are the capital costs, replacement costs, operation and maintenance costs of all components, as well as the efficiency, lifetime of components and life time of the project, specifications of the components, hourly load demand in a year and the hourly meteorological data in a year.

The proposed method is effectively used to deal with the cost reduction of a hybrid system under non-existence or unmet load condition.

The results of proposed algorithm is compared with the software homer.
