The wine red color of DAT-AuNPs changes to violet after the addition of 25 μM malachite green (MG). Naked eye detection of MG was achieved from the color change from wine red to violet. The SPR band of DAT-AuNPs increases with red shift after the addition of 25 μM MG. DAT-AuNPs can be used to selectively determine MG in the presence of 5000-fold higher concentrations of interferents. The present method was successfully utilized to determine MG in fish farm water samples.
