Gd insertion layer at CoFeB/MgO interface plays an important role in interfacial oxygen migration. The perpendicular magnetic anisotropy can be well maintained in CoFeB/Gd/MgO multilayers. By optimizing Gd thickness, the effective damping constant is significantly reduced.
