I4, a synthesized sulfonylurea derivative, has potent hypoglycemic activity. I4 exerts lipid-lowering effect via inhibiting LOX-1 and CD36 expression. I4 suppresses NF-κB activation and MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway. I4 down-regulates p53 and caspase-3 expression to inhibit foam cell apoptosis. I4 exerts potent inhibitory effects on atherosclerosis onset and development.
