Groundwaters in Laxemar are the result of complex mixing and water–rock interactions.

Climatic changes induced the input of different recharge waters generating a salinity gradient.

Disequilibrium states imposed by mixing have conditioned the water–rock interaction.

Main reactions include gypsum and calcite dissolution/precipitation and cation exchange.
