Dorsal luxation of the fetlock joint occurs less commonly than lateral and medial luxations. Fetlock luxation is frequently managed with cast or splint immobilization. Special casting methods for immobilization of a limb with an open joint luxation can tremendously improve the healing process and prognosis.
