Although endometriosis is a relatively common disease in women of reproductive age, intestinal localization is unusual and may lead to severe complications. We report a case of ileocecal endometriosis associated with ovarian endometrioma, causing intestinal obstruction. Emergency surgery, consisting of ileocecal resection and right oophorectomy, was required.
The diagnosis was confirmed by histological study of the surgical specimen.
Intestinal endometriosis has a diverse and nonspecific clinical spectrum and should be included in the diagnosis of women with unexplained digestive symptoms.
