Genome of Ciona intestinalis reveals only g-type homologue lysozyme genes. Phylogenetic analysis support an evolution from a common lysozyme ancestral gene. G-type lysozymes of C. intestinalis are expressed in several tissue. G-type lysozymes of C. intestinalis are involved in response of innate immunity system.
