Scaling and air compressibility effects on a three-dimensional offshore stationary OWC wave energy converter

A 3D CFD model of an offshore OWC is developed and validated with experiments. Air compressibility and scaling effects on device performance are discussed. Negligible scaling effects are found without modelling air compressibility. Air compressibility at full-scale has a significant impact on device efficiency. Full-scale air compressibility reduces the optimum damping at the resonant period.
