Magnetic fluid performance evaluated in prototype transformer for variable loading. Results explained numerically using thermo-magnetic cooling and with existing simulation. Planned overloading with 2 kW prior load and 3, 5 and 6 kW peak load were studied. Hot spot temperature reduces for all conditions when magnetic fluid is used. Normal life expectancy also increases double to nine times for varying load.
