Chlorambucil revealed in vitro antischistosomal action, preferentially on male worms. In vivo, it affected the different developmental stages of Schistosoma mansoni. It showed favorable efficacy over PZQ against juvenile stage. It reduced total worm load and tissue egg counts along with oogram alterations. It caused amelioration of hepatic histopathology.
