The present study has dealt with the design of simultaneous biosorption and bioaccumulation (SBB) batch system for arsenic (As(III) or As(V)) ion removal from wastewater. Tea waste/MnFe2O4 composite was used as carrier to immobilize Bacillus arsenicus MTCC 4380. This approach was accepted for SBB of arsenic ion from wastewater. The surface texture of the biomass was investigated through Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. Various parameters which govern their optimal removal were optimised. The use of 0.1% (v/v) formaldehyde as a disinfecting agent inhibited the growth of bacteria existing in the final wastewater discarded.
