Healthcare providers enhancing the patient experience by incorporating best practices from the hotel industry. Need for a patient-based perspective that holistically and empirically examines the infusion of hospitality into healthcare. Conjoint analysis-based approach to test a model of hospitality healthscapes that incorporates patient preferences, perceptions, and behavioral consequences. High-end material finishes and hospitality-certified healthcare staff were the two greatest influences on patient choice. Less healthy patients willing to pay, on average, 13% higher out-of-pocket expenses for hotel-like hospital rooms.
