Most behavioral phenomena are investigated almost exclusively using male subjects. Cynomolgus macaques were classically conditioned using stationary or moving stimuli. Male monkeys acquired the conditioned response more rapidly with a moving stimulus. Female monkeys acquired the response more rapidly with a stationary stimulus. Females should be included in research to investigate potential sex differences.
