IR spectroscopy is a feasible alternative to assess petroleum contamination in soil rapidly. The spectra data from the portable MIR are comparable to those from the benchtop MIR. MLR approach model based on portable MIR spectra data can provide initial estimation of petroleum contamination in soil.
