A rapid and efficient thermal decomposition approach for the synthesis of manganese-zinc/oleylamine core/shell ferrite nanoparticles

Zn-substituted MnFe2O4 nanoparticles were prepared by thermal decomposition method. It is shown that the magnetic parameters of the nanoparticles are affected by zinc content. Magnetic nanoparticles below 10 nm in size have super-paramagnetic behaviour. Structural analyses confirm the formation of cubic spinel ferrite. Stearyl alcohol can be used as a low cost surfactant.
