OMM with taper yielded high heat transfer with small pressure drop in flow boiling. It showed promise in developing low pressure drop system like thermosiphon loop. Developed a compact thermosiphon loop featuring OMM with taper and a head below 0.2 m. Achieved heat flux of 136 W/cm2 and a very low pressure drop of 4 kPa at CHF. A 6% taper gradient enhanced performance and improved flow stability.
