Silylated Methyl Red was obtained by reaction between GPTMS and MR dyestuff.

Ester covalent bond through reaction of Methyl Red and GPTMS was confirmed by NMR.

Sol-gel derivative increases dyestuff photostability under acidic conditions.

GPTMS avoids hydrogen bonding influence on the electron density of MR azo group.

The dyestuff decolorization obeyed a first-order rate law.
